Kill team 04 - Compendium Space Marine Infiltrators

Image
My infiltrators are not yet painted. I bought a box of them to make up a phobos team using some of my Incursors and Reivers. These are mostly converted a bit to make the Phobos specialists. I decided on the lovely yellow of the Fists as I didn't want another team of Templars and I thought it would make a nice contrast in the team. This is a WIP picture of the build, they are on my work bench now, so it will be the end of July before they are done.

Kill team 05 - Compendium Space Marine Reivers

The reivers are more single pose marines, the first three coming from the First Strike box. A few minor conversions and again painted as the black Templars. Reivers have some neat tricks and equipment even as the Compndium versions. The Terror troop ploy gives you something other than BD to spend those CPs on. Grav Chures and Grapnels make movement fun.

Kill team 03 - Compendium Space Marine Incursors

Sporting a completely made up colour scheme thats' main feature is it's ease of application, are the Incursors. A couple of these now get used in the newer Phobos Marine team along with some Reivers and Infiltrators. In their pure compendium format they are a little dull but they do have a massive bomb.

Kill team 02 - Compendium Space Marine Assault Intercessors

I love these dudes, they are my favourite team for smash and grab social gaming. Their ploys and equipment are brutally basic. You need to hide for a turn then pile in with chainsaws buzzing and blood flying. Get in there! The Dirty half dozen, equipped as onlly they can be with gnarly chainswords and heavy bolt pistols to finish off those who choose to run away.  Yes, it's the sergeants number one best friend, the ole plasma pistol. A must have for this campaign season. A power sword is probably better in terms of stats, but it doesnt go Whhhhrrrrrraaggagagrrrrrrrzz! I took these guys to the Dark Star store in London in October 2022 for their Kill Team tournament and they won best painted, so they must be pretty good :)

Kill team 01 - Compendium Space Marine Intercessors

Space Marine Intercessors, the basic land and fight primaris marines. They have bolters, plenty of range and really rely on Bolter Discipline to just mow down the enemy. I made these from the basic single pose marines that came in an old First Strike set and messed about with the poses a bit. Painted up as Templars but I had no idea on lore when I did these, so they are Templar style. Now up to six dudes from the original five. The plasma pistol and chainsword is the goto loadout for the boss. Everyone else has some sort of bolter rifle. I tend to go auto bolt rifle for the Ceaseless but sometimes the standard bolt rifle P1 is a nice threat against enemies with good saves. Obviously you play Bolter Discipline every turn and shoot 'em up. Johnny red hat leads from the front!

Kill team journey begins

Christmas 2021 and I bought my son a giant box of GW figures. It was called an Indomitus set, came with rules, terrain, figures and stuff to play 40K. I helped him paint up the robots and marines and I started to enjoy myself. I've been buying GW stuff since I was at school, was back in the early 80's. I started to get the stirrings of "the hobby" starting again. I have a pal in Brighton who told me about a GW game called Kill Team a few year ago. I decided to try my hands at it. I got excited and built some terrain and played a few games. I found it a bit dull and long winded.  Then I heard there was a new version of the game, released in 2022. I got it and it was so much better, like it had been thought out from the ground level as a skirmish game rather than a little version of a big battle game. I bought another giant box of GW stuff and went for it. It totally captured my imagination and I decided to dive in. My plastic planes got left to gather dust and now I ha...

2021 begins with goals?

Image
Hello there 2021, this year I will set my self some goals for my hobbies. I'll also be randomly grabbing new hobbies to take part in and listing those as they come and go, like UK snowflakes on a warm January pavement. Writing this crap has me wondering what are my hobbies? Yeah, what are they? Who the heck cares? I don't. I guess I do or this little blog would not be here, would it? Here I am asking the internet questions. Rhetorical ones, no one is likely to answer, this is not a montage sequence from a goofy 2010's film where I realise I have a single blog viewer and then I go to bed and wake to a comment and then two and one's my mum. I then rush to work, spilling my coffee and when I get home my mailbox is full and I'm booked on the today program and the phones ringing and everyone wants to publish my new book... It's not like that. So hobbies, why stick em up here for the entire world to see? Another pointless internet question. Hobby 1 - toy soldiers, spl...
