Kill Team 28 - Novitiates

Image
These figures are lovely sculpts, anatomically correct, slim and well proportioned. The colour scheme is a little dull, but I really enjoyed it. This team has Faith points that allow you to reroll almost anything and to do a number of things that frustrate the heck out of the enemy. I feel bad about playing them and just wrecking those classic moves like sniper/spotter shots. Oh, you are blinded now... Seems really harsh, but I guess I should just man up! or woman up! I really wanted this team as I like the idea of nuns with guns and the fact that they are quite deadly just adds to the benefits. I only got ten though and I think I could do with a couple more for some more options. So, not a full roster, but a functioning team, which is enough for me right now.

Cheap as chips Calnath terrain

I didn't buy the Chalnath box when it came out as I only wanted the Novitiates. Since that decision I have bought the Pathfinders too and the Chalnath book and now I want the scenery. I should of got the box! Anyhow, I didn't. The Pathfinders are painted, the Novitiates are painted. I thought about buying the scenery but it's quite a lot of money for ruins. So I decided to build it out of foam core because I had some and it's really cheap. The first step was to measure it up, I asked people on the Whatsapp groups how big the bits were and marked them out on foam core. I made the the pillars from multiple layers and cut off the corners. Foam core is quarter inch, so 6.35mm thick. my pillars were four layers thick, the strips were 26mm wide. I stuck them together and then cut the corners off with a nice new scalpel blade, just by eye - I should of marked it out really. When it was all cut up and stuck together I added thin card strips to represent the external features a

Kill team 33 - Warp Coven (WD 469)

Here I am trying to catch up on the bespoke teams. This is the Warp Coven, came out in the White Dwarf issue 469 and replaced the Compendium Thousands sons list. I'll probably not complete a full 20 man roster for this team, just stick with the basic cool options. I do have loads of tzaangors and a full box of marines, so it might happen one day. The people who know suggest that a good list is three sorcerers, the chain cannon and a bunch of tzaangors, so that's where I'm headed to start. I got given a box of marines for Christmas last year and I've used that to make my sorcerers. The box only comes with one, but with a few simple mods I made the three. I added some green stuff swirly bits, created a staff from a bit of brass rod, green stuff and some icon bits and then added a khopesh made from plasticard.  They are painted in two colours really, I sprayed them gold, added a wash of a mix od sepia and brown and then added the blue bits. Some red on the gems, black on
